One of the main attractions is the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade which prides itself on being the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world, with the first one taking place on March 17, 1762. The Parade takes place on the 17th every year, and is held in honor of St. Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland and of the Archdiocese of New York. It attracts upwards of 150,000 marchers every year, and around two million spectators.
