River to River Fest

June 15, 2014 @ 8:00 am - July 14, 2014 @ 5:00 pm

This year marks the 13th anniversary of the River to River festival which crosses lower Manhattan from the Hudson to the East River. This annual festival has become a cornerstone of Lower Manhattan’s culture showcasing several artist intertwined within the city’s greatest landmarks. Renown and breakout artist will display their talent along Manhattan’s waterfront including provocative dancers, musicians, visual artists and new media projectors. The display of artwork and performances will be situated throughout lower Manhattan’s parks, plazas, hotels and other vacant areas in the downtown area.  Just imagine the greatest dancers on stage leaping and twirling on piers and ferry terminals. Take a break from the usual art museums and experience art like you have never done before. Spectators can be part of the action and be able to socialize with festival artists, partners and other audience members. If this has not convinced you, at least it will be cooler during this hot summer month by the water! Oh, and forgot to mention that this festival is absolutely free.

Alongside the artists, there will also be several talks and workshops hosted during the festival that will be tied together by the theme of sounds and movement which resonates through bustling lower Manhattan and artistic practices that truly bring this city to life. Spectators will learn about the creative process and the historical architecture of the city. This is an event that not only draws in outsiders but New Yorkers alike.

Duane Street Hotel is conveniently located in TriBeca making it a great place to stay and witness one of the most exciting artistic displays in New York City. Nestled in the fashion capital of the world, Duane Street Hotel embodies and encourages this creative energy and would love to host you during this exciting time in Lower Manhattan.
