One World Trade Center is officially the tallest building in the Western hemisphere. A 408 foot spire tops the building, which now stretches to 1,776 feet, a testament to the strength and hope of all Americans and New Yorkers after the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. The towering height (1,776 ft) is also a symbolic nod to the year America declared its independence. One World Trade Center is scheduled to open in 2014.
