Arguably the best place to watch a baseball game in NYC, Citi Field is the proud home of the New York Mets. Grab your peanuts and crackerjacks and head to Flushing Meadows, Queens where a sea of blue and orange will lead you to your destination. Here’s how to catch a Mets game in NYC.

Get Your Tickets

Your best bet is to head to Mets.com where tickets are sold at face value. Tickets range from $24-$619 depending on whether you want to sit in the outfield promenade or directly behind home plate. The cheap seats often sell first, so make sure you book well in advance to lock in the price.

Take The Train

It takes just under an hour to get to Citi FIeld from the Duane Street Hotel by train so plan accordingly. Take the 2 or 3 train from Chambers Street Station to Times Square 42nd Street, where you’ll transfer to the 7 train for the rest of the journey. Disembark at the Mets – Willets Point Station and you’re a four minute walk from home plate.

Pre-Game Ritual

If there’s one watering hole Mets fans call home, it’s McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon. The doors at McFadden’s open three hours before every Mets game rain or shine. Expect a raucous atmosphere that will get you primed for the game ahead in body and spirit. Choose from a hearty list of draft beers including Goose Island, Shock Top and Sam Adams, and grab a bar bite while you’re there—the Bavarian pretzel sticks and buffalo wings are local favorites.

Enjoy The Game

It’s no secret baseball games are long, but thankfully there are plenty of watering holes and food stands around the park to keep you busy between innings. Unless we’re talking playoffs or a Subway series Yankees game, Citi Field is unlikely to be sold out, so move around the park. If not for the game, then for the concessions alone.

Some popular NYC foodie outposts at Citi Field include Chef David Chang’s fried chicken sandwich joint Fuku along with the ever-popular bakery Milk Bar and of course New York burger sensation Shake Shack. Wash it all down with some delicious craft beers like Southern Tier Hop Sun, Oyster Bay Honey Ale and Blue Point Summer Ale. Just make sure you can remember the way home.
